Year 4/5 – Ms Houareau & Miss Fairley
TERM 4
We created movements to suit the spiritual, “Joshua Fit de Battle of Jericho”, to demonstrate the difference between the chorus and the verse.
TERM 3
We created the music to fit a story about a prospector and his mule travelling in search of gold.
TERM 2
Further to our study of “tempo”, we worked in groups to create a piece of music which began at a “largo” (slow) tempo, moved through “accelerando” (going faster) and then finished at a “presto” (very fast) tempo.
We have been working with “tempo”, which is the speed of a piece of music. In groups, we created a dance to fit the style and tempo of the song, “Tingalayo”.
We have been working on writing correct music notation. We have begun composing a piece of music which has 8 bars, is in 4/4 time and is written in the key of C Major.
TERM 1
We have been learning about jazz, including the type of instruments used in this style. We devised our own jazz moves and it was a challenge to fit the fast tempo!
Can we get photos
There will be photos, and information about what we are doing in class, once we have permission notes for everyone to be in photos on the blog. Hopefully, that won’t take too long.
